BCPF events are respectful, welcoming, and inclusive spaces for self-advocates and their supporters. Everyone must treat each other with dignity and respect. Bullying, hate speech, harassment, personal attacks, threats, and talking over others are not allowed.

During open discussions and member meetings, everyone should have a fair and equal opportunity to speak. After scheduled presentations, questions and comments will be managed to help ensure everyone has a chance to participate.

The Chairperson or event facilitator is responsible for managing speaking time, keeping the meeting on agenda, and ensuring all participants are treated fairly and respectfully. If needed, the Chairperson may ask a Vice-Chairperson, Board Member, supporter, or staff person to assist with these responsibilities.

People who do not follow these expectations may be asked to stop the behaviour, removed from the event, or prevented from attending future events.
