About the event

Join BC People First and Board Member Jenine Lillian who is #ActuallyAutistic as well as a neurodiversity consultant & educator for this FREE Zoom session about harmful myths and misconceptions about autism.

World Autism Awareness Day happens every April 2 and many autistic individuals are changing the name to World Autism Acceptance Day to encourage the shift from awareness to action.

This event will include a short presentation by Jenine followed by an AMA (Ask me anything) session for anyone wondering how to get support for themselves or a family member who is neurodivergent, especially autistic.

As a neurodiversity consultant, Jenine regularly answers questions such as:

  • I’m not sure if I should get a formal disability assessment, what are the benefits of doing that?

  • I’ve recently been diagnosed as neurodivergent, what should I do next?

  • I feel like I’m always working, can you help me find balance?

  • I’m neurodivergent and I want to start a small business, can you help?

  • Can I identify as disabled even without a formal diagnosis?

  • What does disability pride really mean?

  • How do I ask for accommodations at work without risking my job?

  • What are my rights under the Accessibility Act in BC?

  • My workplace says they’re inclusive, but I don’t feel supported. What can I do?

  • How do I know if something is discrimination?

Join us for this virtual presentation on April 2nd to find out more!
