About the event
Do you want to learn from people with experience fighting for their rights in an ableist society? Do you want to hear from leaders of self-advocacy groups and award-winning change-makers in BC? Join our upcoming panel presentation!
*An ASL interpreter is scheduled to attend this event – please help us share the news with people who may appreciate this.
What is it like to experience barriers that make it harder to access services, information, transportation, housing, employment, or community life?
In this panel presentation, BC People First Society members will share their personal experiences with accessibility barriers and talk about how they have spoken up, advocated for change, and found solutions. Panelists will share what accessibility means to them, what needs to change, and how organizations and communities can better include people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Come listen, learn, and hear directly from self-advocates about creating communities where everyone can participate, belong, and have their rights respected.
This event is a great chance for community members, service providers, and allies to step back and learn directly from people with lived disability experience.
This event is a great chance for self-advocates and people with disabilities to learn from other people's experiences, ask questions, or get involved with BC People First Society.
Event panel presenters will each share lessons, advice, and experiences.
And then we'll have 5-10 minutes for a few questions and discussion at the end.
